MY REVIEW:
I was a little skeptical going in to Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare. Unlawful Contact, the third novel in I-Team companion series, was the love story of Sophie Alton, a member of the I-Team, and Marc Hunter, a convicted killer. I thoroughly enjoyed its two predecessors: Extreme Exposure and Hard Evidence, but I was worried that I would have a hard time connecting with the male lead in this novel because he was an escaped convict. My first thoughts after reading the synopsis were, “How the hell do I root for a convicted killer?” Well, now that I have finished Unlawful Contact, I know that the answer to that question is: very easily. Marc Hunter is easy to fall for, and there is more to his character that meets the eye. I don’t know why I ever doubted Ms. Clare. Six novels in and she hasn’t let me down once.
One of the best things about Unlawful Contact was the history between the two main characters. Sophie Alton and Marc Hunter’s past added a special touch to their later romance. Sophie and Marc went to high school together, and they spent one passionate night together before Marc left for the army. Several years later, fate and Marc bring them back together again. Even though they are at completely different places in their lives, years later their passion and chemistry is still just as strong as ever.
My one small complaint about this novel is that it was the most predictable of the three I-Team novels. However, I still loved it just the same!
I gave Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare 4 STARS. Like all of Pamela Clare’s novels, Unlawful Contact was a hot, action-packed page turner. I strongly recommend this novel.
