"Beth Brown doesn’t believe in premonitions until she dreams a sexy stranger is gunned down during the brutal hijacking of a commercial airliner. When events in her dream start coming true, she heads to the flight’s departure gate.
To her shock, she recognizes the man she’d watched die the night before.
Lieutenant Commander Zane Winters comes from a bloodline of elite warriors with psychic abilities. When Zane and two of his platoon buddies arrive at Sea-Tac Airport, he has a vision of his teammates’ corpses. Then she arrives—a leggy blonde who sets off a different kind of alarm.
As Beth teams up with Zane, they discover the hijacking is the first step in a secret cartel’s deadly global agenda and that key personnel within the FBI are compromised. To survive the forces mobilizing against them, Beth will need to open herself to a psychic connection with the sexy SEAL who claims to be her soul mate."
MY REVIEW:
Forged in Fire, the first novel in a new series by Trish McCallan was a romantic suspense novel with a dash of paranormal added in for good measure.
Forged in Fire was a non-stop action packed novel about four sexy SEALS who are faced with stopping a terrorist attack and saving innocent hostages. The plot was intriguing and attention-grabbing, and the romance, although secondary to the action, was extremely sweet and sexy.
This story, told by multiple perspectives, allowed me to connect with and understand several characters-both good guys and bad guys. I don’t condone the majority of the “bad” guys’ actions, but I was able to sympathize with some of them because of their unique situations.
Beth was a decent heroine. She had a few quirks that bothered me, but overall I enjoyed her character. I understood her reluctance to automatically accept everything supernatural. After a “normal” life, she wakes up one morning and discovers that her dream from the night before is coming true. Three things happened in her dream: a fire, a phone call from a friend, and a terrorist attack that kills many innocent people. The first two events already happened, and Beth knows that she has to do something to prevent that plane from taking off. Recognizing the SEALS from her dream, Beth seeks out Zane, Cosky, and Rawls for help.
Zane was a sexy, unique, and interesting hero. He has brief physic visions which help keep him and his buddies out of danger, and he and his family also have other unique abilities and bonds with their soul mates. I wish McCallan would have gone into more detail about Zane’s family history and their abilities. I really hope that we learn more about Zane’s special abilities as the series continues. I also hope that we get to see how Beth and Zane’s relationship progresses. I would like to see their relationship develop more in the upcoming novels.
I gave Forged in Fire by Trish McCallan 3 STARS (3.5 STARS). I recommend Forged in Fire. It’s an adult romantic suspense novel with a touch of paranormal. It’s unique and highly entertaining.
